Thirty-seven years ago, he worked as a missionary to Alu Kurumba Tribals of Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu and he started the work to translate the Bible to Alu Kurumba language. But he had to drop the translation work and come back to Coimbatore due to his sudden sickness. Though for many years he was on a wheelchair, he went around the world with his limitations and taught the Word of God.

He was known as a man of prayer. He encouraged the believers to pray and conducted several seminars on prayer and intercession.

He was the first Vice Principal and Academic Dean of Brethren Bible Institute, Pathanamthitta. He taught in many Brethren Bible Schools and Colleges. He also served as the Registrar and Faculty of Hindusthan Bible Institute, Chennai.

Late Joyce Mathew Paul (Youngest daughter of Late Evg. M. E. Cheriyan, Madurai)

After his wife’s home call on 13th October 2010, he lived in Pathanamthitta and Perumbavoor with his daughter Tephilla Mathew and her son Bezalel Rufus.

FUNERAL DETAILS

God willing, the Funeral Service will be held on September 2, 2023 (Saturday) at Ebenezer Brethren Church Hall, Airapuram, Kunnakkurudy, Perumbavoor from 10 am and thereafter, his mortal remains will be buried at Kunnakkurudy Brethren Cemetery at 12 noon.
